ISS Footpads

ISS Footpads

April 26, 2018 – Crew requested softgoods project designed for crew members to wear over their feet to help reduce callouses and bruising on their feet that is caused from restraining their bodies in zero gravity using railin. Typically, crew members utilize hand rails and other rigid fixtures aboard the ISS to better stabilize themselves while performing science, maintenance, and other activities. It doesn’t take long for this to cause some wear and tear on crew members’ feet, so the footpads aid in reducing the damage and providing more comfort during daily life in micro-gravity.
